Minutes of the Sutton Bridge Parish Council Extraordinary Meeting held 19:00hrs Tuesday, 09 April 2024, in the Curlew Centre Bridge Room, Sutton Bridge.

Present: Cllr Ann Billings, Cllr Chris Brewis, Cllr Diane Cook, Cllr Sue McLaughlin, Cllr Mary Middleton (Chair), Cllr Melvyn Philpott, Mrs. C Smith (clerk).

24.069. Apologies were received from Cllrs Booth, Mills and Pitt.

24.070. There were no declarations of interests received.

Event Arrangements 15th June – Cllrs discussed an extension of the planned event on 15th June, to include an evening party. Concerns were raised that these arrangements had not been resolved on by Council when the event was previously discussed. There had been some confusion regarding the establishment of the events committee, the clerk would look into this and draft terms of reference for the next Council meeting. LALC would also be asked to hold training – including event management. SBPC would offer to host the training for neighbouring Councils.

Whilst considering the evening extension, it was noted that an evening event was already scheduled in another venue. Other concerns included that it would be difficult to staff the event from Trooping of the Colour through to the evening. Cllr Philpott felt that all of these considerations could have been addressed and was disappointed that the event was not supported. It was resolved that the event would not include an evening section and would continue as a screening of the Trooping of the colour and Summer Fete. 

The chair closed the meeting at 19:20hrs.
