Sutton Bridge Parish Council is consulting on plans to replace the pavilion in the Memorial Park. Also, on new play equipment in the village parks.
Sutton Bridge Parish Consultation
Sutton Bridge Parish Council is consulting on plans for the replacement of the pavilion in the Memorial Park, off Bridge Road. The old pavilion was built in 1953, and for almost 70 years it has provided a base for the local football club. The building has also happily been used for charitable purposes and for other community events.
The Parish Council is also working on arrangements with South Holland District Council for play equipment to be put in the other village parks (these other parks are currently under the control of the District Council).
The first main consultation is to take place at a Parish Meeting held in the Curlew Centre 6pm Tuesday 05 July 2022.
All are welcome to attend the meeting, although only local government electors (Sutton Bridge Parish residents) are eligible to take part in any voting, which may take place at the meeting.
The findings of any consultation are not binding on the Parish Council but are intended to be used to give an indication of support for, or opposition to, the proposals, and to raise any other comments or suggestions.
For those who are unable to attend this meeting, comments to the proposals may be made via email to clerk@suttonbridge-pc.gov.uk. Please fill in the questionnaire below which should be received by midday Monday 11 July 2022.
The Plans
The Parish Council is considering building a new pavilion in the village's Memorial Park. This would provide excellent and much needed updated facilities, not only for the football club’s adult and youth teams, but also for other groups and activities. The building would provide a focus for enhanced community involvement within the Parish. New play equipment is envisaged both in the Memorial Park and other village parks, giving children local access to the well-equipped accessible green spaces that they need.
Grant aid and external funding is being sought to help finance these projects. It is likely that significant amounts from the Council’s own reserves will still be required. Future maintenance and replacement needs will also have to be incorporated into the Parish Council’s budget if the plans are to go ahead.
The cost of a new pavilion and for new play equipment in the parks could approach £1 million.
